SPEAKER_01Welcome everybody to Rush Hour Podcast. I'm your host, Cody. I'm here with Brittany and Ashley, and we're ready to talk all things Rush Church. Uh and then yeah. Beautiful fall day here in Wrestlevania. Wouldn't you agree?
SPEAKER_04Really nice out. Yes.
SPEAKER_01It was 42 degrees this morning.
SPEAKER_04Finally chilly.
SPEAKER_01It was chilly. Got some coffee. But yeah. Beautiful day. I like fall. I think it's the what like when you move out of summer into fall. It's just kind of it's quite nice. So what's your favorite part about fall?
SPEAKER_03I'm I just like being able to wear a sweatshirt all the time.
SPEAKER_01Sweatshirts.
SPEAKER_03Sweatshirts.
SPEAKER_01Good.
SPEAKER_04I love the colors.
SPEAKER_01Colors.
SPEAKER_04That's the beautiful smells.
SPEAKER_01Flavors.
SPEAKER_03I like being able to sit by a fire and actually enjoy it. Right.
SPEAKER_01We put a lot of fires in summertime. Cookouts. And we're just like, it's 90 degrees and we made a fire. What are we doing?
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_01But so yeah, fall weather's here. We're excited
Homecoming Outreach Recap At The Park
SPEAKER_01about that. We've been really we've been doing a lot of things. Here at church and in the community recently. Just this week, we had Wednesday night, we had the uh Ben Logan Homecoming. I lost that. I was like, what was that thing called? Sorry. Homecoming. Yeah.
SPEAKER_04Do you wanna that was cool?
SPEAKER_01That was cool.
SPEAKER_04Uh yeah. They had so I guess la two years ago they started traveling to different towns. So if they first started in Bell Center, last year they were in East Liberty, and this year they chose WrestleVania. And did they just do all the the parade in our town with all the teams, the fall teams and the homecoming court and all the little kids in their fall sports too are welcome to be in the parade. And it just filled the town of Wrestlevania. And they the school that asked us to bring Rush 18 out to the park and kind of do our thing. And man, it was exciting. Like yeah, it was it was a lot. It was a lot of work, but like there was a lot of people there. And I as soon as they all swarmed in after the parade and I saw just a crowd of like teenagers, my smile just like grew bigger.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. So that was really exciting. It was a lot of fun. Our volunteers worked really hard. They did. We're very grateful for them. They did a great job. Yes.
SPEAKER_01A lot of people get the obstacle course, they were running through that thing all night. Popcorn was pretty popular because it was kind of rainy, kind of gross, but yeah.
SPEAKER_03Hot chocolate.
SPEAKER_01Hot chocolate and cider.
SPEAKER_03You guys never stopped, did you? No. I mean, I how many do we know how many hot chocolates?
SPEAKER_04Yes, we went through 250 hot chocolates alone. Yeah, we had hot cider, too. You went through six gallons of hot cider. And I even tacked Kelly said snow cones never stopped either. Yeah. Like I it was one of the longest lines, and we weren't even gonna move on. She was surprised. I know John was like, nobody's gonna want snow cone.
SPEAKER_01Kids love snow cones no matter what. It could be it could be snow on the ground. They still come up to the snow cone stand and be like.
SPEAKER_04I used to make snow cones out of the snow, but then I stopped.
SPEAKER_01You could. Yeah. Why'd you stop?
SPEAKER_04I'll save that.
SPEAKER_01I know why. Yeah, you don't like snow. That's why. All right. So yeah, that was pretty
Upcoming Student Ministry Dates And Trips
SPEAKER_01exciting. We had all of our stuff set up. Tonight we're going out. Today is September 25th, Friday. We have a tailgate party tonight.
SPEAKER_04We do.
SPEAKER_01For Ben Logan homecoming football game. We're gonna do our lemonade shakeups. We're gonna do that tonight.
SPEAKER_04That was so popular. We actually ran out last time. Yeah. So we're bringing it back.
SPEAKER_01Bringing extra lemons this time? We did. Yeah. We don't run out.
SPEAKER_03Well, we might still run out. That's the goal. That's the goal.
SPEAKER_01Yep. This Sunday is our color war for student ministry. So we'll be throwing color and paint Sunday night here at the church. TCTC signups are open now. We have about 40 plus people already signed up for the trip in January to Gatlinburg. We need a few more people to fill up the bus. So if you haven't signed up, get your students signed up for that. And then October 31st, I'm doing a free training morning for people that work with teenagers. It's specifically for youth ministries and volunteers that work with youth in the church, but it's pretty beneficial for anybody that works with teenagers in any setting. You can learn stuff. And yeah, I've had some people that aren't youth ministry volunteers, but they work with teenagers in other settings and they've enjoyed it also. So that's free. We'll have breakfast. That's the morning of the 31st in October. I think there'll be breakfast. Brady's gonna be breakfast.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I'll make you breakfast.
SPEAKER_01Sweet. Brady will break breakfast. It's not me. But so that's just some stuff for student ministry coming up. Anything for anybody else you guys have?
SPEAKER_04Did you talk about the rush run yet?
SPEAKER_01No, rush run. Sign up for that, please. We need runners for the race. If you want to if you like to run, sign up. If you don't like to run, sign up and you can walk. If you don't like to do either of those things, then you can donate. You can donate on the webpage. You know, go to the rushchurch.com and click on the down tab and there's a rush run 5k. It'll take you to the page where you can sign up for the race or donate to the cause to help us pay for an expensive TCTC trip. So appreciate all that. Anything anything else? Are we gonna mention anything about oh yeah.
Halloween Plans And Costume Talk
SPEAKER_04So we did decide to not do a fall festival this year, but instead we're gonna go back to the park, but a little bit differently. We're not doing trunks, trunk or treats.
SPEAKER_01No trunk or treats.
SPEAKER_04No, but rush one eight will go out and be represented and we're gonna do a candy apple bar. No, not candy, caramel caramel apple bar. Yeah. So that'll be fun.
SPEAKER_01But you can put candy on it.
SPEAKER_04You could, yes. We will have we will have toppings that you'll get to make your it's actually kind of like a caramel apple salad or like nachos because we're gonna apple nachos. Because we're gonna cut them up for you so that they're not so messy.
SPEAKER_01Okay. Um I'm gonna we're gonna advertise it as apple nachos. Apple nachos. It'll be fun. Nice put that on it. So come get some apple nachos on Halloween.
SPEAKER_04And if you want to come out and just be with your church family and pass out candy at the park, feel free. Like the more the merrier up there. We're just not decorating trunks this year. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Can we still dress up? Oh, of course. Oh, okay.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. What are you gonna be, Cody?
SPEAKER_01Wouldn't you like to know?
SPEAKER_03I do.
SPEAKER_01Me too. I don't really have an idea yet. I don't know. My favorite one was when I did the pirate a couple years ago and I was telling pirate jokes all nice. That was fun.
SPEAKER_04I think John said he was just gonna put a sheet over him, right? And be a ghost or something. Probably.
SPEAKER_01Maybe I'll do that. I'll beat him to it.
SPEAKER_03We all show up in the same.
SPEAKER_01All right. Let us know what you're dressing up for Halloween this year. And yeah. That'd be nice.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, we obviously need ideas.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, we need ideas. Lots of things going on, as always.
Breakfast Banter And Men’s Ministry Kickoff
SPEAKER_01Check out the webpage, check out our Facebook page, show up on Sunday mornings and look at the bulletin and the screen. We have all kinds of announcements and stuff going on. What's for breakfast this week? Waffles?
SPEAKER_03Actually. Nice. I think it is.
SPEAKER_01I think it is too.
SPEAKER_03Cody knows the rotation better than I do.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I love the rotation. You ever gonna like throw some random thing in there sometime?
SPEAKER_03I thought about it.
SPEAKER_01Okay.
SPEAKER_03Maybe it'll be this Sunday.
SPEAKER_01You do an omelet bar made to order. I'm just kidding. Oh my god. I was kidding. Yeah, I'll flip them. You guys like omelets?
SPEAKER_03I love omelets. Yeah. Honestly, we get we have such great egg donations that we could probably do an omelet bar.
SPEAKER_01That was a joke. Um I was just we don't need omelets.
SPEAKER_04We could get those tabletop skillets. Uh-huh. Like you put a sorry, guys. You know, like the hotels that have Hotel Rush.
SPEAKER_01Here we are. You can roll a cod out and just spend the night here and eat breakfast in the morning to church.
SPEAKER_04We just need a shower and a wash and a dryer. Yes.
SPEAKER_03If anyone has any.
SPEAKER_01We got a pond.
SPEAKER_04No, not really. We we're not ready for that.
SPEAKER_01So, yeah, those what's going on. Lots of stuff. We probably missed something. There's a men's event that's happening tomorrow that you had to sign up for. And we're gonna be be on the lookout for some more of those. That's just the start, that's just the beginning of this new ministry, I think, that we're gonna be starting to do. There's gonna be different events for men, different things once in a while. So this is this isn't just a one-time thing. This is kind of like a a kickoff to a new administration.
SPEAKER_03We still have the QR code out if you want to give suggestions or help fill out when you would like to meet or what you'd be interested in doing. They're still taking a suggestion? Yeah. Oh, cool.
SPEAKER_01Maybe I can start a Dungeons and Dragons group.
SPEAKER_03You'd have to type that in the other because I can guarantee that was not one of the options.
SPEAKER_01That's what I was up. I was up till last night. I was playing. Oh my word.
SPEAKER_04Yep. Thursday night.
SPEAKER_01I I died actually. So but anyway, it was a rough time.
SPEAKER_04I was in bed by 9 30 last night. Same. Yep.
SPEAKER_01No. I was just getting started at 9 30. So but yeah. Anyway, side topic. That's what's going on. What's up next, Ashley? What do you got for us
National Day Icebreaker And Listener Prompt
SPEAKER_01today?
SPEAKER_04I'm actually gonna start today with our wow, what's it called? I don't know. Icebreaker. There it is. Oh, we're starting back. Yes, because today is 9 25, so it's 9 to 5.
SPEAKER_01It's National Dolly Parton Day. If you didn't know, oh it is.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. As you can tell, I don't know the words because I'm not a country fan. However, so today is National Dolly Parton Day because it's 9.25. Legitimately, a bus driver dressed up like Dolly Parton this morning and played 9 to 5 walking around the office, which was I think all bus drivers should play music. Well, if we had radios on all of our buses, we would. Oh, you don't? No, mine does not.
SPEAKER_01Bring a speaker.
SPEAKER_04I thought about it, but jam out on the bus.
SPEAKER_01So Dolly Parton fans out there. That's today's for you.
SPEAKER_04Yep, today's for you. But if you could create any national day in your honor, you know, because like Dolly Parton passed, unfortunately. Um so if it was in your honor, what would your national day be?
SPEAKER_01It's a good question. I like this icebreaker question.
SPEAKER_04Okay, am I picking the date or what the day's called? No, just the day. What the day is called. What is the day about?
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_04And it can't just be like National Day of Brittany. National Day of Britney. Okay, that was my answer.
SPEAKER_01National Day of buy me food, you know. National Day of You know, mine would probably have to do something with like disc golf or okay. I don't know. What other things do I like? Coffee. Coffee, golf. I like L8. It's the best drink in the world. It's made in Kentucky. Have you ever had one?
SPEAKER_04Yes. What?
SPEAKER_01How would you say ooh?
SPEAKER_04Because I've tasted it and I didn't like it.
SPEAKER_01It's so bad.
SPEAKER_04I've never had one.
SPEAKER_01You've never what? Wow, I was a little loud. Sorry.
SPEAKER_03Sorry, I got really excited there, folks.
SPEAKER_01But L8 is a great beverage. It's kind of like a ginger ale. I gave one to Lori Short the other day and she loved it.
SPEAKER_04Really?
SPEAKER_01She's like, this is the best thing in the world.
SPEAKER_04Oh.
SPEAKER_01It's made in Kentucky. It's a soft drink.
SPEAKER_04So Cody will be National Day of L8. What will my day be?
SPEAKER_01National of Day of Everyone Gets an L8. I gotta spread it.
SPEAKER_04Everyone gets a Yes, you gotta spread the love.
SPEAKER_01Give somebody an L8. That's yeah, I like that day.
SPEAKER_03Maybe it would be something like National Take Your Vitamins Day.
SPEAKER_01National Don't Eat That Day.
SPEAKER_03National that is poison. Don't eat it.
SPEAKER_01National, put that cookie down.
SPEAKER_03Oh my goodness. That's hilarious. That's the only thing I can think of. Or National Day of Laughter. Okay. National Day of Laughter.
SPEAKER_01Accent Day. I wanted to do all of her accents.
SPEAKER_03Oh yes. I have the best accent. She does. Do you think she only has one? Your voice just got really high. National Day of Laughter.
SPEAKER_01Why gosh. That was beautiful. That's more than I could have hoped for. Thanks for doing that, Brittany. Stop.
SPEAKER_02Okay.
SPEAKER_04Okay. Obviously, I'm actually really at an accent.
SPEAKER_01She was trying to.
SPEAKER_04I'm not sure what accent that was.
SPEAKER_01She was, I think she no one ever.
SPEAKER_03At first I thought you were going for like Irish. I tried. And then it went left.
SPEAKER_01It's like a tour of Europe. Right. All in one sentence.
SPEAKER_03National Day of Nope, that's not one. That's just you. That was just normal.
SPEAKER_01Okay. Can you guys do any impersonations? Do you guys know how to impersonate?
SPEAKER_04Obviously, yes, I can. I do not.
SPEAKER_01Okay.
SPEAKER_04Not good at that. So if I could pick a national day in my corner. Oh yeah.
SPEAKER_01I forgot Ashley.
SPEAKER_04She has like a real answer, I'm sure. Well, I mean, it's it's based on who I am.
SPEAKER_01She cheats on the iceberg. She's the one that writes them, so she's got an idea.
SPEAKER_04I wrote this 30 seconds before we started. Wow, that's procrastination. National Day of Procrastination.
SPEAKER_00National. Put that off till later day.
SPEAKER_04I would probably have to go with like National Day of Teach Someone Happy A Mime. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Or National Theater Day.
SPEAKER_04Yes, National Theater or Performance Day or something like that.
SPEAKER_01Show off your talent day.
SPEAKER_04In my odd National Day of Talent.
SPEAKER_03Just we can't tell. It's true.
SPEAKER_04Everything has to be done in through mime form. That would be I like that one. Day of mimes.
SPEAKER_03We'll have your day next to my day. National Day of Talking, National Day of Silence.
SPEAKER_04Because we laughed so much the day before. We're talking so much.
SPEAKER_01Let us know your uh what you would pick for your national day. Like if you had to pick a national day for something, please let us know. Come up and tell us, or email it to me at codyc at rush church.com. And if we like them, I might get you a prize or something.
SPEAKER_04Awesome.
SPEAKER_01Swedish fish. I love Swedish fish.
SPEAKER_04All right. Joke time.
SPEAKER_01I do. I want I just had a craving for Swedish fish earlier.
SPEAKER_03National Day of Swedish fish.
SPEAKER_01Someone's gonna bring him Swedish fish now.
SPEAKER_04Stretish, shortish fresh. I'm like, I like five dollars. Nothing. I started to like mumble my words. I'm like shrewdish fresh.
SPEAKER_00We've been we've been in strong car and sweetish fresh. Sorry. Boage.
SPEAKER_04Boash. Okay, moving on.
Joke Time And Office Prank Ideas
SPEAKER_04Oh that's good. Okay, what does Michael Jackson love to do on vacation?
SPEAKER_02Why does the question even make you laugh?
SPEAKER_03It just seems like a he likes to go to the moon.
SPEAKER_00Oh, I like that one.
SPEAKER_04That one works. It works. Walk on the moon. That's my answer. Okay. Walk on the moon.
SPEAKER_01Something thrilling.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_01He likes to. I don't know. I don't know.
SPEAKER_03Hang out with Diana.
SPEAKER_01Hang out with Billy Jean.
SPEAKER_03What? Princess Diana? What? There's a song that Michael Jackson has called Dirty Diana. Nobody knows this song. No kidding.
SPEAKER_01You could have just Billy Jean.
SPEAKER_02Oh, I meant Billy Jean. You got Billy Jean mixed up with Dirty Diane.
SPEAKER_03No, I'm pretending. Oh, okay. I'm trying to save my face right now. So I meant Billy Jean.
SPEAKER_02Please give us the answer before I get fired.
SPEAKER_04However, it's ski.
SPEAKER_03Ski.
SPEAKER_01I did not think of that.
SPEAKER_03Wow, I'm really glad I didn't just shut up through that whole thing.
SPEAKER_04That was that was Michael Jackson's favorite thing to do on vacation is ski.
SPEAKER_01So I discovered I'm not that I discovered that there's on YouTube there's a video and it's an hour long. It's an hour of silence.
SPEAKER_04Okay.
SPEAKER_01With Michael Jackson noises thrown in random places.
SPEAKER_04Random places?
SPEAKER_01Yes.
SPEAKER_00So you just push play and put on a speaker somewhere for the day. And like 10 minutes in, it's like, hey, hey!
SPEAKER_04Ow! Oh my goodness. Dude, that's John. Yeah, we have to.
SPEAKER_01I'm gonna put it in his office and I'm gonna put that on and play it. Oh my goodness.
SPEAKER_04Okay, my last joke. My last joke for today. This one is a shout out to my friend Angel. So Angel and you guys.
SPEAKER_01This better be good now after the setup.
SPEAKER_04Uh-huh. What did this is because she likes sushi. She likes loves sushi. I hope sushi's not the answer. I can't stand sushi.
SPEAKER_00That's the punchline.
SPEAKER_04All right. What did sushi A say to sushi B?
SPEAKER_00Raw. I was thinking like raw fish. Raw, raw.
SPEAKER_02No. Tell me. I actually know all I can think of is that. Can you believe were?
SPEAKER_00Would you please tell us? Can you believe they rolled us up?
SPEAKER_04No. Okay. Sushi A said to Sushi B, Wasabi.
SPEAKER_01Like wasabi? Yes. Oh. Wasabi. Does that have anything to do with does wasabi have anything to do with sushi?
SPEAKER_04Yes. Yes. I'm not a sushi person. No am I. They put a side of wasabi on your plate.
SPEAKER_01Sometimes. I don't know, maybe.
SPEAKER_04Wasabi? Okay, what's it? Don't say it again.
SPEAKER_01Three times that she said it, like we didn't hear it the first time. Okay, good jokes today. Thank you for those. Really glad that we had Michael Jackson jokes and sushi jokes. Let us know what you think about Ashley's jokes. And so yeah. Oh well.
One Year Anniversary And How We Changed
SPEAKER_01Today we want to just take this episode to look back. Look back on memory lane and talk about our podcast a little bit. Because yesterday was the one year anniversary of rush hour. Right? We've been doing this happy anniversary, guys.
SPEAKER_04You guys are we have lasted a whole year together.
SPEAKER_01We have. We've been doing this for years.
SPEAKER_04Yes. We haven't gotten mad at each other or argued or anything. Today's the day. We are doing great.
SPEAKER_01I mean, I think we have.
SPEAKER_04I mean, you have like said my jokes are bad, but like you've made fun of me a lot, and Brittany does. Britney makes fun of you. I laugh. First of all.
SPEAKER_01Oh, you just laugh.
SPEAKER_02Never mind.
SPEAKER_01She points and laughs. No, we I think it's been great, all of it. Yeah. You know, making fun of each other, laughing. I think that's why people listen to this episode or this podcast is for just to see what we're gonna say. Just to see what we're gonna say.
SPEAKER_04Sometimes even we don't know what we're gonna say. Obviously.
SPEAKER_01Well, let's think like when we first started this, like what were your expectations? Like, what did you think this was going to be and how has that changed? Is this what you thought it was gonna be when we started?
SPEAKER_03No. No.
SPEAKER_01Me neither.
SPEAKER_03No, 100% not.
SPEAKER_01I had like some of it, yes. Right. But when we started it, I don't think we could ever think it was gonna get to this with Michael Jackson jokes. Right. You know, all the different things. But I don't know. What do you think it was gonna be like? Maybe.
SPEAKER_03Did you have a well in the beginning I definitely thought that we would be more scripted? Yeah. Because I remember in the beginning I was so nervous about what was what were we gonna talk about? What were we gonna say? Just to even talk into the microphone, I was like, is this thing?
SPEAKER_01The first time we got behind these microphones, we were like, oh my. Yeah, like Britney was like nervous red every dime.
SPEAKER_04I would write everything down, everything I was gonna say.
SPEAKER_01Now we don't have any papers. No, we got to be able to do that.
SPEAKER_03Now I'm literally holding my mic. I know what the topic is when we come sit down, I'm like, it'll be fine.
SPEAKER_01We don't do that, but sometimes maybe we don't me.
SPEAKER_03Oh, you, yeah, never me might not be paying attention.
SPEAKER_01That's true. I usually have an idea of where things are going.
SPEAKER_03Cody is very organized. Thank you. He's the one who keeps this.
SPEAKER_01I wouldn't say organized, but I do have an idea of where I want things to go in the podcast and what we're gonna talk about when it comes to Bible stuff. But you guys are the the good part of the episodes, you know. I don't think anybody comes to this podcast getting their We bring the real.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, we bring the real I mean the scripture's real for sure, but like we bring what people like us are thinking. Yeah. Because we're we didn't go to Bible school, we didn't go through all the training and all that stuff.
SPEAKER_01So you guys bring good questions, you guys bring up, you know, things that like I don't Like when I think about the Bible and I think about what I'm gonna talk about, sometimes because I've studied the Bible for so long and I've taught it for I don't know years now, like I'll think of something I'll be like, people don't want to hear that, they already know that. And then to me, like it'd be because I know it and I've heard it like a hundred times, I kind of get caught up in that idea of they don't want to hear that, or they don't want to know about that because it's boring. Right. It's not for a lot of people because they don't know like I do. And I have to remember that when I'm you know talking about topics or bringing up certain Bible things. So you guys do a good job of that though. Like I'll say sometimes be like, oh, I that's something that not everybody knows like I do.
SPEAKER_04So like manna.
SPEAKER_01Like manna. You guys remember that episode when we outed Ashley and her mana? She thought it was fish.
SPEAKER_04Thought it was fish.
SPEAKER_01Bread from heaven.
SPEAKER_04There's a song we sing on Sunday morning sometimes that has the word manna in it. Every time I cannot keep a straight face to save my life. Every time I laugh.
SPEAKER_01But yeah, I just think I was I was thinking about like the first time we got behind these microphones and we were like, this is wild. Right something we've never done it before. But for not doing a podcast ever before, like none of us have. No, and I think it's been I think it's gone well for the first year. And we've this is episode 41. We've done, you know, we wanted to do an episode a week and we took a break there for a while. We missed a few weeks because life and it gets busy, but 41 is pretty good. Yeah.
SPEAKER_04And in the beginning, I mean we were at Calvary, so sometimes we were on their schedule, and if the school was closed, we couldn't go in and and record.
SPEAKER_01We had to take when they were closed for like breaks and stuff. We had to but now got our own studio.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_01It's Ashley's office.
unknownRight.
SPEAKER_04Nice, but we can Do you remember the kids like staring at us in the window? Oh gosh. During library.
SPEAKER_01We used to do it at Calvary. We were in the library, and they had a little it's a nice little studio for us. But we felt like we were gonna fish pole.
SPEAKER_03We were like a we were like animals behind the glass at the zoo, the exhibit. Or they'd start like screaming, playing, and you're like, Oh, yeah, you can hear that.
SPEAKER_01There's one episode early on that we have, and you can hear like the background noise of the kids. But yeah, thanks for Calvary for letting us start out there when we decided what we're gonna be doing and good stuff, and we have to drive there and drive back, but now we can just hop on the microphones. Yeah, like this morning.
SPEAKER_03I do remember in the beginning feeling like kind of playing off what we were just talking about, like what we bring. And I do remember being very nervous because I'm like, guys, wait, I don't know everything about scripture. You can't just ask me a question and me just answer it. Right. And I remember in the beginning trying to research as much as possible so I could pretend like I was really educated on it.
SPEAKER_01But with yeah, and then we're like, well, that doesn't really work, doesn't it? Yeah, that didn't work now, and it's better just to be yourself.
SPEAKER_03This way is a lot better than me pretending like I already have studied the entire book.
SPEAKER_04Right, right. But what I noticed too is that like the more that we have been in Bible study with John, like as a staff, the more I think at least you and I have learned a lot. Yeah, just within the last year. And so our our knowledge of scripture has increased. Um I kind of hope that our listeners' knowledge has increased too. Like you might not have read the Bible from start to finish or, you know, have studied every book, but hopefully things that we talk about just kind of give you easy or daily reminders of, you know, it's it's not hard. It well, let me rephrase that. It is hard to live this life, but that's what we're called to do. Like we're called to be a light to this world.
SPEAKER_03I agree. Cody's looking through our episodes.
SPEAKER_01I am. I'm looking back at all of our What do we got?
Most Played Episodes And Favorite Throwbacks
SPEAKER_01Okay. So I wanted to just we're just gonna take this episode to kind of look back, and I'm gonna bring up some maybe episodes that stand out, or maybe we can see if we remember what we actually talked about beforehand. So our number one episode over the last year, most most listens, okay, uh, most downloads, was our first episode. Our first episode still are really you know, the first one was called From Sunday Services to Community Outreach Exploring Rush Church. We just kind of did an introduction to Rush Church. Remember that?
SPEAKER_04We are in ourselves. Yes, in ourselves. We were that interesting?
SPEAKER_01Number one that's the number one, 114 listens to that one. So hold on. Let me uh let me go back. All time, we have 1,696 listens. So that's a total. As a total.
SPEAKER_03Okay. That's like kind of crazy. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01We have that, and so the most popular one was our very first episode.
SPEAKER_04And that just kind of also like told us like told them what the church was about. You know, what rush church was. That wasn't anything crazy. Just about rush one eight. Not on that one.
SPEAKER_01The next episode, the second, these first, our first episodes, our first and second and third episodes. That's our top. Our top the top three is the first and second and third episode. Those are we talked about tailgates of transformation, we talked about rush church events, faith, we talked about rush one eight, talked about all this different stuff. And then our third episode, we're gonna kind of recreate here in a couple weeks, because the third episode we ever did is called Getting to Know the Preacher and Honest Conversations About the Church. So we had John on for that third episode, and we're gonna do that again. We're gonna have John on to kind of talk about what's new with him, what's going on, you know, just to s just to kind of re-remake that episode that we did about a year ago. So that'll be pretty fun. So look forward to that. I'm gonna have him talk about his series that he's going through right now because he's attempting to go through Genesis to Revelation and break down the books of the Bible in five years.
SPEAKER_04Five years.
SPEAKER_01He's on track for not five years. But um we're gonna talk to him. So if you've been enjoying his Genesis series or this idea that we're gonna go through the entire Bible together as a church, we're gonna ask him some questions about that. I'm gonna talk to him about like what sparked the ideas, like why did he want to do this? What's the what's the goal to go through the whole Bible together, and kind of what do we want to get out of it as we go through it as a church? So I think that'll be a good conversation to have with John when we have him back on. Let's see. Then we get into the this one surprised me. Our fourth highest listened episode is one that Ashley wasn't even on.
SPEAKER_05Yes.
SPEAKER_01Episode 34. It's real freedom means depending on Christ. It was kind of like a fourth of July episode where me and Britney did it by ourselves. So we talked about freedom, we talked about freedom in a Christian Christian context, and we talked about Jesus offers real freedom. So there we go. People like that one, apparently.
SPEAKER_03Ashley, you're allowed to call the people out. That's all right. I was enjoying the beach. You're like, I was fine.
SPEAKER_01We've did. Do you remember when we did this episode is titled Biscuits, Bobsleds, and Bible plans? Do you remember that?
SPEAKER_03No.
SPEAKER_01You guys don't remember Biscuits? Biscuits, Bobsleds, and Bible plans. It was in January.
unknownNo.
SPEAKER_03What did we talk about? That was Bobsleds. We talked about Jamaican bobsled team because it was the U.S. Olympics.
SPEAKER_04Oh. Right?
SPEAKER_01I think we were.
SPEAKER_04Probably. Oh it's a winner Olympics. And biscuits, because he's always talking about what's for breakfast.
SPEAKER_01Let me read you the description. It says we return from break with updates, talk about peace, obedience, and the difference between joy and happiness. Stories from the parking lot to acts show how small yes, yeses shape a year of spiritual growth. Um, I remember the parking lot conversation because it was when you were helping somebody with their groceries in a parking lot and the little things that we remember that?
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Oh, that was you. Yeah. Somebody.
SPEAKER_03I remember that. No.
SPEAKER_01We talked about all different kinds of things, apparently. But really, it was about peace. And the new year, we talked about Bible plans and stuff like that. So it was a new year's kind of thing. But I don't remember why Bob Sled is in there, doesn't say.
SPEAKER_03I really think that was it. Is it was it Winter Olympics?
SPEAKER_01It had to have been.
SPEAKER_04That or my like and biscuits, obviously. Maybe what was your favorite, you know, Olympic winter Olympic sports? Cody may have been like Bob Sledding. I don't know. Maybe.
SPEAKER_01Maybe we talked about cool runners. Oh, we talked about cool runners.
SPEAKER_03That was his wait, that was his sermon side series. Yes.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, we talked about cool runnings, man. Hold on, I'll do it. Yeah. Okay. I'm sorry. So that was a good one. Biscuits and Bob's Leds and Bible Plans is up there for one of our top listens. People like that one a lot. That one still comes up sometimes. It's funny because I look at this and like, you know, it'll randomly be like July, and somebody listened to one from January or something like that. Right. Get a play. But let's see. What else do we have on here? We did a kind of a cool series, What's
Why We Do Rush Hour
SPEAKER_01the deal with? And we talked about some interesting things. Remember what we talked about? What's the deal with heaven? What's the deal with the spiritual realm?
SPEAKER_04Yes.
SPEAKER_01What's the deal with giants in the Bible? And what's the deal with angels? I kind of liked that series. That was a good one.
SPEAKER_04It did. That spiritual one. That had a lot of like that sparked a lot of conversations outside of this. I remember being in my camping group and like we just talked about it on the fire. Like it was really cool.
SPEAKER_01And that's what I think. That's one of the things I wanted to do this podcast for. This is not you listen to an episode and you know all the things there is to know about the topic that we talk about. This is, you know, a starting point where you hear something, you're like, oh, I want to know more about that. And so you go on your own and talk in groups and you talk to people and ask questions. And so for me, the this podcast that we've been doing is I what I really wanted it to be was uh for this church that people in this church could listen to it, feel more connected to us as we are on staff here, know who we are. I wanted it to be another way to get information out, like announcements, and just talk about behind the scenes kind of stuff. And then I wanted to do some kind of Bible study, small Bible studies that people could take, listen to, and get interested to study more on their own, really. So this was never meant to be like a extremely deep dive into scripture on this podcast. But you guys help with that by asking questions on here, and then we, you know, answer things and talk about things and see what comes up. But so that's kind of what I thought this podcast was always going to be about. And what we haven't done over the last year as we started this, that I really wanted to do was have more guests on. You know, people I wanted to do volunteer spotlights and talk to people that work at different stations in the church and get their perspective on different things. So I'm gonna try to do that a little bit more this coming year as we do year two of Rush Hour, if you guys are up for it.
SPEAKER_05That'd be cool. That'd be fun.
SPEAKER_01Keep the podcast going.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_01So, but that was one of the things that I thought we could do with this, but we didn't really do a whole lot. But yeah, we did what's the deal with all that spiritual realm stuff, angels. We did one called What's the Deal with Going to Church. I liked that one a lot. I liked when we talked about different denominations in churches. I think people kind of talked about that one outside the podcast, too. Let's see. We did one on worship a long time ago. Remember that? We spoke about worship music, personal worship, music in general. We talked about.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_01That was a good one. Me and me and my friend Drew did an April Fool's episode. And some people didn't know it was an April Fool's episode. We did one on April 1st about spiritual beans, and we talked about beans the whole time. Kidney beans, black beans. It was pretty good though.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. I didn't listen to it. No. I'm sorry.
SPEAKER_01But 50 other people did, so they didn't. They did. Yeah. Wow. Yeah. Wow. But yeah, just a recap of kind of what we've been going. Anything you guys want to see going forward on the podcast? What have you liked? What have you not liked? Or new things that we could try to add? I don't know. What are we thinking?
SPEAKER_03Well, I definitely think that I hope somehow we figure out how to get more conversations from people that are listening. More ways for people to tell us what they want to hear or what they would, you know, appreciate the topic being.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_03So I hope we figure out a way to do that. I know we have the box in the foyer that we have out there on Sunday mornings that you can always write suggestions in. But just anyway to have that open communication so we can try to get that or to get that one.
SPEAKER_01Sounds good.
SPEAKER_04I wonder if there was ever a way we could do like a um I don't know, this might be a little bit too complicated, but almost like a a worship and prayer time during the podcast. Like we're worshiping on the microphones? Like there's worship music going on, but like just different prayers that we might pray over the different ministries in the church or the different different things. Okay. You know?
SPEAKER_01Like a guided prayer episode? Yeah. Oh, I like that idea. Okay. Let me write that down so I don't forget a guided She won't forget it. Oh, okay, good. I'm glad. We'll be ten episodes of the year. Remember that one time we had that idea for something? I don't remember what it was. We had a really great idea.
SPEAKER_03So I do like the idea of having more guests on.
SPEAKER_01Okay.
SPEAKER_03I think that would be fun.
SPEAKER_01I think it'd be fun. Gotta have the right guests though.
SPEAKER_03I like what our podcast has become. I really enjoy it this way. But it wasn't planned to be this way. It kind of organically became what it is. Right. So I am pretty interested to see at year two what it what it'll turn into by then. That's kind of exciting to know that we don't actually have a plan that it can just become whatever.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. But I think God's hand has been on it like the whole time.
SPEAKER_03Like it's it's guided, you know. Well, I thought that from the beginning when Cody said, you know, a lot of podcasts don't make it very long. Right.
SPEAKER_01They don't. Our, you know, to be have 41 episodes our first year and to keep going is, you know, because we could have gotten into it and been like too busy or not made, you know, could have just ended. Right. But I think you got we've done a good job of making sure that we do it.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, we try to hold each other accountable too. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Even when we get really busy, sometimes we might miss a week here or there because yeah, sometimes the outreach is just it's a lot outside the church that we don't don't get to do everything in the church.
What We Want For Year Two
SPEAKER_01Yeah, let us know what you thought of our first year of rush hour. We're always open for suggestions. Thank you for listening. Thank you for you know telling people about it or sharing things. And we really do want to know your thoughts and your suggestions and things like that. So please let us know about that. And we'll continue to put out episodes, we'll continue to talk about the Bible, talk about church, and yeah, hopefully answer some questions and do the things that you guys want to hear because this is why we did this podcast. This is why I want to do the podcast to get the members of this church specifically in a way that they can connect together and build a community this kind of way. So right.
SPEAKER_04It's kind of cool too that we haven't we've even had listeners outside of this church. Like we've had listeners out of state.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that's fine. I think that that's good. But the goal of this podcast is not for that. I mean we do rush church announcements every episode. We talk about rush church things are going on here. It's made for this body of people. It doesn't mean you can't share it or tell people to listen to it. Like the Bible conversations are for anybody. But yeah, I don't know what the what it'll look like going forward. So we'll see.
SPEAKER_03We'll see.
SPEAKER_01It'll be exciting. But we figured we'd just take this episode, recap a little bit, go down memory lane, look at all the different things that we've talked about. I want somebody to like go back through and just like take all the quotes that like that we've said, things that we've said on this podcast, and you know, it'd be funny to see just out of context.
SPEAKER_03I would actually not like to hear all my quotes. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02That would be great.
SPEAKER_01All right, don't go back and listen to them. Who knows? That's funny. We'll uh go back and listen to one of our first ones and just be like, wow, yeah, what the heck were
Closing Prayer And Send Off
SPEAKER_01we doing? All right, let's pray, and then we'll be done with this episode. So, God, thank you so much for opportunities like this. Think that we get to be together, we get to talk, and thank you for Rush Church. And it's thank you for the church. And we have a group of people that can come together, go through life together. We encourage each other, we lift each other up when life's hard, we celebrate together when life is good, and I think that's what the church is for, and it's because of you, because of what Christ has done. It's his church, we get to be a part of it. Thankful for that. Thankful for this podcast. Help us to continue to go whichever direction you want us to go. I don't know where it's where it's going, but we'll trust you and we'll just keep talking about who you are and sharing through this this space. So be with those that are listening, whatever's going on this this week in their lives. Hopefully you can show up, let them see you and help them to take notice. And yeah, thankful for Christ and all his love and grace that he gave for us. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen. All right. Until next time, thank you for listening to Rush Hour.
